Week 2! Make Your Bed Everyday!

Week 2 challenge...Make your bed everyday. Wow! Everyday?!? I know this is a good idea. A made bed helps the room stay clean. It is the center piece of the room, and when it looks nice it motivates you to keep the rest cleaned up. Like in the kitchen..if the dishwasher is empty and the sink is clear those dishes are going to find their way to being rinsed and into the dishwasher much more than if the dishwasher is full of clean dishes and the sink is already full. I think we will one step closer to having clean rooms all the time too. No laundry on the floor and a made bed! Woohoo..sounds exciting.

I will do the same reward system. I will check every morning, and you get a sticker if your bed is made. I again don't have a plan for the final prize, but I'll figure it out..off we go to making our beds.

Laundry Roundup!

We did it! We finished our very first week of the challenge. It went pretty well. My oldest son totally rocked it, and he was one of the worst at picking his clothes up before. I am so proud! My plan was to do a spot check twice a day, but I only did it 8 times this week. I hope that doesn't mean I am loosing momentum already!

So, I am happy to say since I was the grown up with the most stickers and Zeb was the kid with the most stickers we get to go on a date together. He thinks we should go get a dog! What?!? I think that might be too much of a reward for picking up your laundry for a week.

WEEK 1! Dirty Laundry Goes in the Hamper!

OK technically this is week 2 of the year. I know lame right? My very first week and I am behind. Now you know why I need this blog...

There are 6 people in our family. Mom, Dad, 3 boys, and baby princess. None of us are good at putting our laundry in a hamper. On the floor they go most of the time. I get all grumpy and start stomping around about it sometimes, but that is silly since I set a terrible example. I feel like I am justified since I am the one to pick up mine, theirs, and my husband's. I guess not justified, that's just my excuse. But no more! Week 1..here we come.

My plan is make a poster with all of our names on it with boxes behind. See the picture. I am going to do random checks twice a day. If I don't find any clothes on the floor then you get a sticker in a box. Does this work for grown ups? I guess we will find out. Next Wednesday we'll see who has the most stickers, and that person wins the prize. What's the great prize you ask? I don't know...let me check the budget.

Here we go! Week 1...dirty laundry goes in the hamper! We can do it!

My First Blog

So, here it is. My very first attempt at keeping up on a regular blog. There are my other 2 attempts at chicobeadels.com and the homestead blogger, but those weren't as exciting to me as this blog. I had no plans to make it be a regular thing. This blog was inspired by The Crock Pot Lady. She is amazing, and accomplished a huge task. I wanted to do something equally as inspirational and crafty. I have tossing ideas around in my head for weeks, well probably months. I wanted to do something daily, but that's ridiculous for me to even consider. I wanted a fun and crafty name for my blog too, but it seems everything I thought was taken. And taken by someone who doesn't even blog! or hasn't blogged since 2001! Seriously?!? I love to write or at least I think I do. I love to think about the things that I would write. I want to help people like me who are a bit home management challenged. I thought about recipes, chores, just the things I learn on a daily basis, fun things to do with the kids, but I have finally come up with my idea and it goes like this....

My kids and I (and husband) are all domestically challenged. We leave dishes in the sink over night, dirty clothes on the floor, towels on the floor, shoes are all over, clean clothes take forever to get put away, you get the idea. I can't blame anyone but me for the kids. Can I blame my mother-in-law for my husband??? Anyway, not the point. So, here is the task I have decided to take on. I want us to work together as a family forming new habits. 1 a week. Whoa! I know people say it takes a person 21 day to learn a habit (and 28 days for a SHE; I am so a SHE), but we are going for it. My family doesn't know I have decided to do this to us. I am hoping through my commitment to wanting more for us, lots of prayer, and an awesome ever changing reward system we will succeed. It's possible to have a family of 6 that rinses their dishes and puts their clothes in the hamper right?
